Here are “MANLY” things to do in the Forks area that aren’t twilight related.
(Disclaimer – Gals have fun doing these things too!)
GO FISHING!!
o Float one of our world-class rivers, like the Sol Duc, Bogachiel or Hoh in a drift boat (a unique
design specifically for rivers) with one of our many guides. Salmon, steelhead and trout are
abundant in our area. All you need is a fishing license… the guide provides everything else!
o Take an ocean charter that departs from La Push and fish for halibut, salmon and lingcod.
o Fly fish on our rivers or at one of our area lakes.

Pacific Ocean Beaches
o West of Forks - Explore wilderness beaches - Rialto, Second Beach and Third Beach – all part of
the Olympic National Park. Whether you want a short leisurely walk or an overnight
hiking/camping excursion, our beaches won’t disappoint.
o South of Forks - Ruby Beach is a beachcomber’s dream! Check out the unique windblown trees at
Kalaloch in the Olympic National Park.
La Push – Home to the Quileute Tribe
o Experience First Beach where you can take a leisurely walk, see James Island, whale watch or for
the more adventuresome – surf, kayak or paddle board.
o The Quillayute River - Explore this beautiful and serene river by kayak to see this estuary and its
inhabitants - bald eagles, seals, sea lions, otters, salmon and more! This class I river is great for
beginners and experienced kayakers.
o The Quileute Marina, where many charter fishing boats are moored, is located on the mouth of the
Quillayute River and is another great place to spot wildlife (and we’re not talking about the
fishermen.)
o Take a sightseeing charter to tour the scenic coast for sea stacks, whales, eagles and more.
Hoh Rain Forest
o Camp at one of the many public or private campsites in the Hoh Valley.
o Hike the trails in the rain forest and see the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Trails range from 1/10
mile to 17.3 miles (depending on the season)
o Bike, Kayak or Raft - All equipment is available to rent locally or go with a guide.
o Hoh River – Fish with or without a guide or take a guided drift boat trip to see the sites.
o Visit the Sv. Nikolai Expedition 1808 – An interpretive center marking the events surrounding the
Russian ship, the Saint Nikolai (Sv. Nikolai) that went aground in 1808. Located just past the
Hard Rain Café.
Lake Crescent & Sol Duc Falls
o Hike to Marymere Falls, Devil’s Punchbowl, Storm King, Sol Duc Falls.
o See the Salmon Cascades where the salmon swim up the falls to spawn.
o Water ski and go tubing in the chilly waters of Lake Crescent in your powerboat.
o Go for a swim or rent a kayak and explore this mysterious lake.
Explore the Olympic National Forest (Pet-friendly so take your best friend with you!)
o Camp at a designated site or enjoy disperse camping at Klahowya or Klahanie.
o Hike through the lush rainforest at the Bogachiel Rain Forest Trail that connects to the Hoh.
o At Mount Muller Trail you can enjoy hiking, riding, mountain biking and scenic views.
o The Kloshe Nanitch Trail accesses Kloshe Nanitch Lookout and links the west side of the Sol Duc
Valley via Snider Ridge to Mt. Muller Loop Trail. Opportunities include day hikes, mountain bike
riding, observing diverse wildflowers and wildlife, and viewing dramatic scenery such as Lake
Crescent, Sol Duc Valley and Mt. Olympus.
Hang out with the locals
o Watch sports on TV, play darts, poker, pool, shuffleboard or just have a beer at one of our
restaurants, bars or bowling alley.
Learn about Forks Logging Heritage (May through September/October)
o Logging and Mill Tour - See real ax men in action! These tours are free and go to an actual
logging site, a working mill and more. Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
o Forks Timber Museum - located next to the Visitor Information Center, has many artifacts and
historical items. Visit the museum to see how Forks came to be the Logging Capital of the World.

o Bowling, Archery and Shooting – right here in Forks!
o Ride horseback through the Sol Duc Valley or the Hoh Rain Forest.
o Relax at Tillicum Park – See the Rayonier #10 Shay Locomotive and a real army tank up close!
Play horseshoes, tennis or skate at our world-class skateboard park.
Enjoy the covered BBQ area, kids’ playground, ball fields and more!
o Tour the Sol Duc Fish Hatchery, 11 miles northeast of Forks, open to the public!

o Experience West End Thunder Drag Races at Forks Municipal Airport www.westendthunder.com
o Visit Clallam Bay, Sekiu and Neah Bay – home of the Makah People and the Makah Museum. All
of these quaint seaside communities offer great fishing opportunities!
o Photograph the exquisite Cape Flattery - the most NW point in the contiguous United States.
o Hike Cape Alava and/or Sandpoint Trails at Lake Ozette. Connect the two with a 3.1 mile hike on
the beach to make a nine mile loop!
