Exploring Poetry
2ND WEDNESDAYS,
11 AM - 12:30 PM
This program is for anyone

well-chosen words perfectly describes what a
poet aspires to when pung a poem together.
Wring poetry is spills and thrills for the beginner

happens, an ah ha moment where the poet feels
he/she can say or almost say precisely what
needs to be said. Exploring Poetry is led by Mark
Kraushaar.
Wring Your Life
THURSDAYS, FEBRUARY 29 - APRIL 4, 10 - 11:30 AM

detail the harder parts of life, jealousy, betrayal,
sadness, loss. Our stories dene us. Through the
Greater Madison Wring Projects “Wring Your
Life” workshops, we will help you nd the stories
you want to tell and give you wring strategies
that will help you cra them into the stories that
you will want to share. Our wring workshops
will incorporate several dierent wring
strategies. Each 90-minute session will include
exploraon of dierent strategies opportunies
to write and seek feedback, and me to
share wring in a welcoming and enthusiasc

Healthy Heart Month
(INFORMATION FROM THE CDC)
This Heart Month, the Division
for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevenon
(DHDSP) is encouraging women to listen to
their hearts and speak up for their health.
Women in the United States are experiencing
unacceptable and avoidable heart-related
illness and death, and nearly half of U.S.
women do not recognize that heart disease is
the leading cause of death for women.
DHDSP aims to shed light on this important
topic so that women no longer experience
delayed recognion, diagnosis, and treatment
for cardiac events, such as heart aacks.
Heart-health disparies specic to women
widen and deepen when combined with
race, ethnicity, and other social factors. Here
are some of the symptoms of a heart aack
that are unique to women. Women may
experience shortness of breath, nausea/
voming and back or jaw pain when having
a heart aack. These symptoms can be
mistaken for the u or acid reex. They may
also feel extreme fague or heaviness in the
chest.

Heart Health Month
February is American Heart Month, a me when all people, especially
women, are encouraged to focus on their cardiovascular health.
Even though heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United
States, women oen chalk up the symptoms to less life-threatening
condions such as acid reux, the u or normal aging. A heart aack
strikes someone about every 40 seconds. It occurs when blood ow
that brings oxygen to the heart muscle is severely reduced or cut o
completely.
NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2
This is an annual event held the rst Friday of February, to raise awareness about heart disease
in women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States.
Wear Red on Friday, February 2, and be entered into a prize drawing for a $10 gi card and
other fun prizes.
