GOKHALE EDUCATION SOCIETY
Gokhale Education Society was founded in 1918 by the veteran Social Worker,
Late Prin. T. A. Kulkarni on the third death anniversary of Namdar Gopal Krishna
Gokhale. The Society which is managed by dedicated teachers has established
many educational institutions, both in urban as well as rural areas of the State of
Maharashtra.
Today, the Society runs more than 140 Educational Institutions. It consists of
Degree Colleges, Junior Colleges, Secondary Schools, Primary and
Pre-Primary Schools and other allied Institutes. These learning centers cater to the
educational needs of students from different sections of society.
With the co-operation & inspiring involvement of about 4000 Teaching &
Non-teaching staff members the G. E. Society has been imparting Quality
Education at these centres.
Besides the centres at Nashik, Borivali, Parel, Girgaon, Kharghar, Sangamner &
Shreevardhan, Gokhale Education Society has its learning and Research Centres
at Bordi, Talasari, Kosbad, Jawhar for the upliftment of socially backward &
underpreviledged adivasi community.
OUR COLLEGE
G. E. Society established this Arts & Commerce College at Borivali (West) in
June 1979. The college was thereafter renamed as Shri Bhausaheb Vartak Arts,
Commerce & Science College w.e.f. 19th Feb 1990. It is permanently affiliated to
the University of Mumbai & Accredited by NAAC.
The Junior College started in July 1983 which was named as
Sheth Kanji V. Parekh Arts & Commerce Junior College. w.e.f. 4th August,1992.
Our College has completed 40 years of its fruitful existence It has received
ISO 9001: 2015 Certification for its systems and efficient governance.
The College has convenient location and beautiful educational complex at
Borivali (West).

educaiton in Arts, Commerce, Management Studies and
Information Technology to fulfil the needs and Expectations of
Students, Parents and Society at large.
This being ensured through the total Involvement of the

1) ELIGIBILITY (F.Y.B.A. AND F.Y.B.COM.) :-
A) Candidate in order to be eligible for admission to the degree course in Arts/Commerce
must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate. (Std. XIIth) Examination
of Arts, Commerce faculty conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary
and Higher Secondary Education Board of Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nagpur,
Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik and Kokan Divisional Board.
B) Students who have passed 10 + 2 Year HSC examination of any other State
Board in India can be admitted to F.Y.B.A./ F.Y.B.Com. only after apply and obtaining
Provisional Statement of Eligibility from the eligibility section of University of
Mumbai. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan, Kalina, Mumbai - 98 for the purpose of
Admission.
Admission to different programme will be given strictly on Merit Basis as per the
scheduled of the University of Mumbai & Government of Maharashtra from time to
time.
2) DURATION :-
A) Courses shall be a full time course
B) Duration of the Courses spread over in 3 Years / 6 Semesters.
3) RULES OF ADMISSION :
A) Admission to F.Y.B.A., F.Y.B.COM, F.Y.B.M.S., F.Y. B.Sc. I.T, F.Y.B.Com (B & I)
& F.Y.B.Com (A & F) will start after the declaration of the result of H.S.C. Examination
as per the directions given by the University of Mumbai.

B) Admission to the S.Y.B.A., S.Y.B.Com., S.Y.B.M.S., S.Y.B.Sc.I.T, S.Y.B.Com
(B & I), S.Y.B.Com. (A & F), T.Y.B.A., T.Y.B.Com., T.Y.B.M.S., T.Y. B.Sc. I.T. &
T.Y.B.Com (B & I) will start after the declaration of the result of the respective qualifying
examinations.
C) Students seeking admission should apply as per notification during the Office hours notified
for the purpose
D) A student will be required to present himself / herself with the prescribed form duly filled in
and signed by him/her and his/her parents.
E) No student should be considered as admitted unless it is granted by the Principal and
unless the necessary fees have been paid. All admission will be strictly on provisional
basis for one academic year only.
F) All admissions are valid for one academic year / semester and are required to be renewed
by a fresh application in the precribed form for every subsequent year / semester of study
in the college by paying the fees for that academic year / semesters.
G) A student once admitted will be considered as duly enrolled for the academic year unless
he/she informs the Principal in writing of his/her intention to leave the College at least a
week before the commencement of the Second Term. If no such intimation is received,
fees for the Second Term shall not be refunded.
H) For admission to any class, it is necessary to produce following originals :
i) Statement of Marks of the last examinations.
ii) The passing certificate of the last examination, if passed.
iii) ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Head of the Institute last attended, in case of the
students joining S.Y. / T.Y. classes from other colleges.
iv) Online / Manual Transference Certificate in case of students from other colleges affiliated
to the University of Mumbai.
v) Provisional Statement of Eligibility Certificate in case of passed H.S.C. Examination
from other State Board / out of Maharashtra as the case may be.
vi) All admissions are provisional until Enrolment Certificate / Final Eligibility Certificate /
Transfer Certificate is submitted to the college.
vii) PR No. of first year issued by university of Mumbai is required.
viii) Lower Exam Status report of FY / SY classes are required for SY / TY admission.
I) Under Yuva Raksha Scheme, Senior College students are requested to submit the Insurance
form duly completed, at the time of admission.
J) The circular received from University of Mumbai regarding choice based Credit, Grade
& Semester System was introduced from the academic year 2017-18 for F.Y., S.Y. &
T.Y.B.A. and F.Y., S.Y. & T.Y.B. Com. Classes.
K) Right of admission is reserved by the Principal.
L) Admission to Reserved Category Students will be given as per Government rules &
regulations in this regard.
M) Any one applying from reserved category has to produce Caste validity Certificate from the
competent authority.

SELF FINANCING COURSES

A) Eligibility of Students : (As per UG / 244 OF 2003 DT. 11-06-2003 and UG / 337 OF 2004
DT. 13-8-2004)
A Candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Banking &
Insurance) Degree Course shall have passed XII std. Examination of the Maharashtra
State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and secured
not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of reserved category) at first
attempt.
Every Candidate admitted to the Degree Course in the Constituent/ Affiliated College /
Recongnized Institution, conducting the course, shall have to register himself/herself with
the University.
B) Duration of the Course and Related Information :
a) The Course shall be a full time course. The duration of the courses shall be six semesters
spread over in three years.

A) Eligibility of Students : (As per UG / 337 OF 2004 DT. 13-8-2004)
I) A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce
(Accounting & Finance) Degree Course shall have passed XII Std. Examination
of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and
secured not less than 45% marks in aggergate at the first attempt (40% in case
of reserved category)
II) Every candidate admitted to the Degree Course in the Constituent/Affiliated College
/ conducting the course, shall have to register himself/herself with the University.

A) Eligibility of Students : (As per UG / 278 OF 2007 DT. 16-06-2007 and UG / 80 OF
2010 DT. 27-4-2010)
A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.M.S. degree course shall have

A) ELIGIBLILITY OF STUDENTS : (As per UG / 496 OF 2002 DT 15-11-2002 and UG / 179 OF
2003 DT. 8-5-2003)
0.5051 : A Candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree course of Bachelor of
Science - Information Technology, shall have passed XII Standard examination of
the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with
Mathematics as one of the subjects and should have secured not less than 45%
marks in aggregate and 40% marks in aggregate in case of Reserved category
candidates, at one and the same sitting.
OR
Candidates who have passed Diploma in Computer Engineering /Computer Science
/ Computer Technology / Electrical, Electronics and Allied branches, Mechanical
and Allied branches, Civil and Allied branches of Engineering are eligible for
admission to the First Year of the B.Sc. (I.T.) degree course. However, the Diploma
should be recognized by the Board of Technical Education or any other recognized
Government body, Minimum marks required 45% aggregate for Open category
candidates and 40% aggregate for Reserved category candidates.
AND
Students with post HSC-Diploma in Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Computer
Technology will be eligible for direct admission to the second Year of B.Sc. (I.T.) However,

5) M. Com. (Master of Commerce)
A) Eligibility : (As per UG / 10 OF 2012 DT. 27-02-2012)
O.5977 : A learner for being eligible for admission to the Post Graduate Programme i.e.
Master of Commerce, shall have passed the examination for the degree of Bachelor
of Commerce (three years / six semesters integrated course) or the degree B.
Com. (Old Course) or the other Semester based Programmes i.e. Bachelor of
Commerce (Banking & Insurance) or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance)
or Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Markets) or Bachelor of Management Studies
(B.M.S.) of this University, or an examination of any other University recognized as
equivalent thereto.
B) Duration :
The duration of the M. Com. degree course shall be Two years / Four Semesters.
Ordinances and Regulations relating to the Master of Commerce (M. Com.) Four (04)
Semester Degree Programme Examination under the Credit Based Semester and
Grading System with effect from Academic Year 2012-13
0.5978 : The duration of the M. Com. Programme shall be of two years consisting of Four (04)
Semesters. The examination for the Master of Commerce programme will be held at
the end of every semester viz. Semester I, Semester II, Semester III and Semester
IV. The Examinations for Semester I will be held in the Second half of the academic
year in which the learner was admitted (i.e. October / November), Semester II
examinations will be held in the first half of the calendar-year (April / May), Semester
III examination will be held in the Second Half of the Calendar year (October /
November) and Semester IV End in the first half of the calendar year (April / May).
O.5979 : A learner who has kept terms satisfactorijy for Semester I of the course shall be
permitted to keep terms for Semester II of the course notwithstanding that he/she
may not have appeared for the Semester I Examination or failed thereat.
O.5980 : A learner who has kept terms satisfactorily for Semester I & Semester II of the
course shall be permitted to keep terms for Semester III of the course notwithstanding
that he/she may not have appeared for the Semester I-& Semester II examination or
failed thereat.
O.5981 : A learner who has kept terms satisfactorily for Semester III of the course shall be
permitted to keep terms for Semester IV of the course notwithstanding,that he/she
may not have appeared for the Semester III examination or failed thereat.
O.5982 : However, no learner will be allowed to appear for Semester IV examination, unless
he/she has passed all the courses of Semester I & II examination previously.
O.5983 : The result of Semester IV shall be kept in abeyance (RLE) until the learner passes
each of lower Semesters Examinations (i.e. Semester I, II and III).

REFUND OF FEES
0.2859: Refund of Tution, Development and all other fees after cancellation of
admissions :
The candidates who have taken admission in under graduate courses in Govt. colleges, in
Govt. aided and unaided courses conducted by affilliated colleges, and recognized Institutions
may request for refund of fees after applying in writing for cancellatin of their admission to
the course. The refund of fees as applicable shall be made on or before 30th day after the
date of cancellation and thereafter. The percentage of fee for the course shall be refunded to
the candidate after deducting charges as following. :

1. College Library :
Our college library is named after meew. }er}eyeeF& ceveesnj ®eesie}s ûebLee}³e . It is situated
on the first floor. A separate spacious reading room is provided for students. Our library
has 63,914 books, 1,340 reference books and 68 journals, 5 e-journals, 500 e-book as on
March 2020. It is partly computerised and constantly upgrading itself to keep pace with
the growing demands of students.
Our library runs Book Bank programme for Under-privileged and Deserving students.
Borivli-Kandivli Lions’ Club provides sets of text-books to student who wish to avail this
facility.
2. Students’ Council :
Students’ Council is a Statutory Body. The objectives of the Council are :-
a) to look after the welfare of the students
b) to promote and co-ordinate the extra-curricular activities of different students’
associations for better corporate life.

GENERAL RULES
1) On admission, each student will be given an Identity Card on which he/she must affix
his/her recent stamp size photograph which will be signed by the Principal.
2) Every student must wear the Identity card everyday and must submit it on demand.
3) To keep terms in the College, every student must satisfy the requirements in respect
of attendance at lectures, tutorials, internal assignments, college examiniations as
per the rules and regulations laid down by the University of Mumbai. 75% attendance
in every term is necessary for grant of the terms for the year.
4) The list of irregular students will be put up on the Notice Board every month
The parents are required to meet the Principal, Vice-Principal personally as
and when called.
5) All Important Notices will be put up on the Notice Board for the information of
the students. Therefore, it is necessary for the students to see the Notice Board
regularly.
6) Concession-holders i.e. Reserved categories / EBC / PTW / FF / Ex-Servicemen /
Physically Handicapped & Minority Communities students are advised to collect the
Blank Application Forms from the Office & should submit the online concession
application (Scholarship / Freeship) with all required documents within one month
from the date of admission. Otherwise, entire fees will be recovered from the
student for the academic year.
7) Student can avail Railway Concession / S.T. Concession or BEST Bus Concession.
They should write their complete Local Residential Address as well as native place
address in the admission form. Otherwise, the ST/Railway Concession for native place
may not be given.
For Local Journey Concession, the students name must be included in the Ration
Card. A xerox copy of Ration Card showing his/her name should be submitted while
claiming Railway/Bus Concession.

College publishes our Annual Magazine ‘TRIVENI’. The Magazine records all the
important activities undertaken by College during the academic year and students

PROHIBITION OF RAGGING
(MAHARASHTRA ACT No. XXXIII OF 1999)
‘RAGGING’ means display of disorderly conduct doing of any act which causes or is
likely to cause physical or psychological harm or raise apprehension or fear or shame or
embanassment to a student in any educational institution and includes -
1) Teasing, abusing, heartening or playing practical jokes on, or causing hurt to, such
students :
OR
2) Asking a student to do any act or perform something which such student will not , in the
ordinary course, willingly, do.
3) Ragging within or outside of any educational Institution is prohibited.
PENALTY FOR RAGGING :
Whoever directly or indirectly commits, participates, in abets or propagates ragging
within or outside any educational institution shall on conviction, be punished with imprisonment
for a term which may extend to two years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend
to ten thousand rupees.
Any student convicted of an offence under section 4 shall be dismissed from the
educational institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educationl institution
for a period of five years from the date of order of such dismissal.
SUSPENSION OF STUDENT :
Whenever any student or, as the case may be, the parent or guardian, or a teacher of an
educational institution complains, in writing, of ragging to the head of the educational
institution; the head of that educational institution shall, without prejudice to the foregoing
provisions, within seven days of the receipt of the complaint, enquire in to the matter
mentioned in the complaint and if, prima facie, it is found true, suspend the students who is
accused of the offence, and shall, immediately forward the complaint to the police station
having jurisdiction over the area in which the educational institution is situated, for futther
action.
Where, on enquiry by the head of the educational institution. it is proved that there is no
substance, prima facie, in the compliant received under sub section (1) he shall intimate the
fact, in wirting, to the complainant.
The decision of the head of the educational institution that the student has indulged in
ragging under sub-section (1), shall be final.
