Scene Breakdown Notion Template
This template is designed to help you plot each chapter scene by scene and maximize
your writing time by allowing you to have creative freedom while also having a road map
of the events in your chapter.

Once you open the link above, click the ‘’duplicate’’ button on the upper right corner of the
page. This will duplicate the template to your account so you may enter in your information.
CONTENTS:
Chapter Header
The chapter headers are titled numerically (1-10), but you can change these to chapter titles.
Chapter Summary Box
This box is the brown one with the paper pin under the chapter header. This is where you’ll
type in the chapter’s summary.
Scene Boxes
These are the green boxes with the triangle toggle button. They are numerically marked
(scene 1, scene 2, scene 3...). By clicking on the triangle, you will expand (or hide) the
contents inside this block.
Inside you’ll find 3 story beats for each scene:
Beat 1: the ‘’inciting incident’’ of your scene.

Beat 2: the ‘’midpoint’’ of your scene.
Beat 3: the ending.
If you need more of these boxes, click on the dots on the left side of the box then click
‘’duplicate’’. Then, drag it to the right to pile it up next to the current boxes or drag it under
the current boxes to stack them.
For your convenience, the first three ‘’chapter templates’’ have a different number of scenes
to show you the different ways you can pile them up.
Duplicating Each ‘’Chapter Template’’
Need more than 10 chapters? No problem! Just like you would copy a normal document,
select the last heading, chapter summary and scene boxes, and click ‘’duplicate’’. Change the
information and done!
