Portland Camera Club Waiver of Liability
Welcome to the Portland Camera Club. Although none of us can remember any incident
of a member becoming hurt while attending meetings or participating in events, there
are always inherent risks arising from your involvement.
With respect to ordinary meetings, should you operate, participate with, or otherwise
encounter the club's equipment you could a) suffer an electrical shock, b) suffer a burn
from the heat of the illumination of images, c) suffer eye damage should you be
exposed to the bright lights of the illumination of images, d) become hurt if equipment
were to break or fall upon you, e) become cut or wounded from handling sharp
implements, even paper, and e) any other sort of unimaginable or unforeseeable
outcomes which might arise from any sort of assembly of people.
With respect to field trips or other special events not held in our regular meeting place,
there is always the risk that you, and your equipment, could be become hurt or damaged
from a) common dangers from traversing places, e.g. falling off a trail, rocks, overboard
from a boat, or dangerous locations, b) attacks from wildlife or encountering poisonous
vegetation, and c) any other sort of unimaginable or unforeseeable outcomes which
might arise from any similar type of excursions.
Accordingly, to participate as a member of the Portland Camera Club, you are expressly
assuming the risks which may arise from your participation, and you therefore waive
and relinquish any and all types of claims you might have or acquire against the
Portland Camera Club, its Officers, Directors and any member in charge of a meeting,
field trip or special events, expressly including claims for negligence.
