Radiation Therapy (3 + 1 track)
Hospital: Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Illinois)
Major: Health Science Technology
Traditional students attend Elmhurst for three years and apply during
junior year. If accepted, they spend 14 months at NMH completing
their RT courses and finishing their bachelors degree from Elmhurst,
essentially shortening the time in school by one year. Transfer credit is
limited and must be approved by HPA.
Respiratory Care (3 + 2 track)
School: Rush University, College of Health Sciences
Major: Health Science Technology
Students interested in respiratory care may apply for early admission to
Rush University College of Health Sciences for a
3 + 2 agreement. Applicants apply during junior year at Elmhurst. This
is a select program and not all applicants will be accepted to Rush for
early admission. Those not accepted can apply through the traditional
admission process. This agreement would allow students to complete
their bachelor’s degree and Master of Science in Respiratory Care in
approximately 5 years; rather than 6 years. No undergraduate transfer
credit is allowed for this aliation, but AP credit is allowed.
Veterinary Medicine (3 + 4 and 4 + 4 tracks)
School: University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Major: Biology
This aliation allows students accepted into the program to shorten
the time needed to complete their bachelors degree and Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine by one year, or remain on a traditional track.
Applicants must be Illinois residents. Transfer students are not eligible
for this aliation, and transfer credit is not allowed either. The GRE is
not required.
No student is guaranteed admission to these programs or tracks
simply by being an Elmhurst student. This brochure gives a general
overview of each aliation and does not include all requirements.
Students are responsible for verifying requirements and eligibility

Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language
Pathology at Elmhurst University
At Elmhurst University, we oer masters degrees in communication
sciences and disorders and occupational therapy. Students who are in
the process of completing their first bachelor’s degree at Elmhurst
University are eligible to apply for early decision for these programs.
Elmhurst undergraduates who have demonstrated academic strength
and a commitment to developing skills and experiences useful for these
fields may be admitted through the early decision track, allowing them
to secure a seat in these programs prior to those on the traditional track.
In addition, students interested in pursuing speech-language pathology can
apply for our accelerated track through which they earn both a bachelor’s
and masters degree in 5 years. Students must meet eligibility requirements
prior to applying for this track and limited spaces are available.
Chiropractic Medicine (3 + 3.5 and 4 + 3.5 tracks)
Schools: National University of Health Sciences (Illinois), 3 + 3.5 track
Northwestern Health Sciences University (Minnesota),
3 + 3.5 and 4 + 3.5 tracks
Major: Health Science Technology
Accepted students can shorten their time completing a bachelor’s
degree and DC by one year through this program. Please note that a
very limited amount of undergraduate transfer credit is allowed for this
aliation and must be approved by HPA.
Dentistry (4 + 4 track)
School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Florida)
Major: Biology
Students must apply to Elmhurst and LECOM, and be accepted to both
to participate in this aliation. Applicants can apply during senior year
of high school to LECOM and if accepted, hold a seat in dental school
prior to beginning college. High school students are encouraged to
apply by February 1 to receive a decision by May 1. However, students are
allowed to apply after this date. Transfer credit is limited and must be
approved by HPA. The DAT is required.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (3 + 1.5 track)
Hospital: Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Illinois)
Major: Health Science Technology
Traditional students attend Elmhurst for three years and apply during
junior year. If accepted, they spend 18 months at NMH completing
their DMS courses and finishing their bachelor’s degree from Elmhurst,
essentially shortening the time in school by one year. Transfer credit is
limited and must be approved by HPA.
Medical Laboratory Sciences (3 + 1 track)
Hospitals: Hines VA Hospital (Illinois)
NorthShore University HealthSystem (Illinois)
Major Biology
Traditional students attend Elmhurst for three years and apply during
junior year. If accepted, they spend 11 months at Hines or NorthShore
completing their MLS courses and finish their bachelor’s degree from
Elmhurst, essentially shortening the time in school by one year. Transfer
credit is limited and must be approved by HPA.
Medicine (3 + 4 and 4 + 4 tracks)
Schools: A.T. Still University (Missouri), 4+4 track
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Florida and
Pennsylvania), 3 + 4 or 4 + 4 tracks
Major: Any major for ATSU and biology for LECOM
Those admitted to these aliations will not have to take the MCAT if all
standards are met. Transfer credit is allowed on a limited basis and must
be verified with HPA. ATSU applicants apply during sophomore year at
Elmhurst.
For LECOM, students may apply while in high school and must be
accepted to both schools to participate in this aliation. If accepted,
students will hold a seat for medical school prior to beginning college. In
addition, there are two tracks for LECOM; one of which allows students
to shorten their time in college by one year (3 + 4 track). High school
students are encouraged to apply by February 1 to receive a decision by
May 1. However, students are allowed to apply after this date. Transfer
students are not eligible for the 3 + 4 track. Transfer credit for the 4+4
tracks is limited and must be approved by HPA.
Nuclear Medicine Technology (3 + 1 track)
Hospital/School: Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Illinois)
College of DuPage (Illinois)
Major: Health Science Technology
Traditional students attend Elmhurst for three years and apply during
junior year. If accepted, they spend 13-15 months at NMH or COD
completing their NMT courses and finishing their bachelor’s degree from
Elmhurst, essentially shortening the time in school by one year. Transfer
credit is limited and must be approved by HPA.
Optometry (4 + 4 track)
School: Midwestern University—Dual Acceptance Program (DAP)
Major: Health Science Technology
Students apply during their senior year of high school to Elmhurst and
Midwestern, and must be accepted to both schools to enroll in the DAP.
There is a separate application for Midwestern that is due by March
1. If accepted to both schools, students complete their prerequisite
requirements at Elmhurst University and then matriculate to Midwestern
University after graduation to begin a four-year OD program. AP credit
is allowed to meet prerequisite requirements. Transfer students are not
eligible for the DAP. The OAT is not required for DAP students. There is a
track for first-year students at Elmhurst to apply for the DAP. Please see

Pharmacy (2 + 3.5 and 3 + 3 tracks)
Schools: Midwestern University (Illinois)—Dual Acceptance Program
(DAP), 2 + 3 track
Roosevelt University (Illinois)—Direct Enrollment Program
(DEP), 3 + 3 track
Major: No major for DAP and Health Science Technology or
Biochemistry for DEP
The PCAT is not required for the DAP or DEP. All prerequisite courses
must be taken at Elmhurst for both programs, and transfer credit is not
allowed for these aliations.
For Midwestern, students apply during their senior of high school to
Elmhurst and Midwestern and must be accepted to both schools to
enroll in the DAP. There is a separate application for Midwestern that
is due by Nov. 1 for early decision or Feb. 15 for the standard deadline.
Those accepted will not earn a degree from Elmhurst and will transition
to Midwestern after two years at Elmhurst if all requirements and
standards are met. There is a track for first-year students at Elmhurst
to apply for the DAP. Please see our website for more information on
this option.
For Roosevelt, students apply during their first year at Elmhurst, and if
accepted into the program, they may shorten the time to complete both
their bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Pharmacy by one to two years.
