ErP Directive’s Objectives

To improve energy eﬃciency and environmental protection the ErP Directive,

which is a European legislation as part of CE marking, applies to products that

aﬀect energy consumption throughout their life cycle, from manufacture, use,

and until their end of life. Heating systems fall under this directive and the

features and functionality of the heating control unit have an impact upon its

ErP rating (I to VIII.) At SALUS we have endeavoured to allow our controls to reach

the highest possible rating without substantially impacting the overall cost of

the product.

Central heating systems should be cleaned when

commissioned or when a new boiler is installed within

an existing system. Cleaning and ﬂushing protects

against mineral oil contamination and removes

harmful ﬂux residues and installation debris, which

can cause corrosion. The removal of black sludge

(iron oxide) and limescale improves circulation and

reduces fuel wastage and boiler noise.
