PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
DIRECT ENTRY SECOND DEGREE PROGRAM
MIDAS - MSN
The Direct Entry as Second Degree (MIDAS) accelerated MSN
program is designed for mature, goal-directed individuals
who have a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than
nursing and desire to be a licensed registered nurse (RN).
The 20-month MSN MIDAS program is a rigorous full-time,
five consecutive semesters fall entry program (fall/spring/
summer/fall/spring). The 79 credit hours curriculum is taught
onsite and practicum experiences are at healthcare facilities
in the greater Cincinnati area. Students who successfully
complete the program with a Master of Science in Nursing
Degree (MSN) are eligible to sit for the National Council
Licensure Exam-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).
Within this master’s program is the American Association
of Colleges of Nursing’s Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) role. In
practice, the CNL oversees care coordination of a distinct
group of patients and actively provides direct patient care in
complex situations. The master’s degree-prepared clinician
puts evidence-based practice into action to ensure that
patients benefit from the latest innovations in care delivery.
MIDAS graduates are eligible to sit for the Clinical Nurse
Leader certification exam. MIDAS graduates are also eligible
to sit for the holistic nursing certification exam.
