Dear all,
We are very excited to have you attending the Congress. To make your arrival as comfortable
as possible, we want to give you some useful tips. Here they go:
General Information:
The official language in Chile is Spanish and the official currency is Chilean Pesos
(CLP).
Public transport is paid with cash only in Valparaíso
We strongly recommend travel insurance.
ATM’s with “Redbank” label accept foreign credit cards.
The weather in Valparaíso is comfortable in March, with temperatures in the
range of an average low of 13°C (55°F) and an average high of 19°C (67°F).
For your convenience, use comfortable shoes and clothes, since the majority of
attractions are located on hills.
How to get to Valparaíso:
From the Airport: You will arrive in the Arturo Merino Benitez Airport located in Santiago. All
the international flights arrive at terminal 2 (T2).
You may find the exit route from the plane to the street in the video attached:

Inside the airport you can find the CentroPuerto service that are buses that go from the Airport
to Santiago Centro (and the other way around). The cost is around $1800 (General Ticket)
and $3600 (roundtrip). At the Airport you must pay at authorized Counters or ATMs, at CTR
(Transport Center), Counter T1 (National) or Platform T2 (International). Another option is to
purchase it in cash when boarding the bus.
(More information about this service can be found https://www.centropuerto.cl)
Take this bus and ask to be dropped off at the Pajaritos Station where you can purchase your
bus ticket to Valparaíso. Some companies are Turbus (https://new.turbus.cl/turbuscl) and
Pullman (https://www.recorrido.cl/en/bus/pullman-bus-tickets#).
Another option is to take the bus number 555 Intermodal Aeropuerto which is free and goes
from the airport to Pajaritos Station and the other way around. You can find more information
about this service here:

In Valparaíso your bus will arrive in the Terminal Rodoviário Valparaíso (located in Pedro
Montt 2860, Valparaíso).
From here you can:
Take an uber to your hotel/Airbnb/etc
Another option is to take the bus (here we call them micros and pay with cash). If you are
staying in Valparaíso you can walk to the bus stop in Chacabuco.
Where is the Centro Cultural? How to get there?
To arrive in the Centro Cultural you have different options:
You may call an uber to pick you up where you´re staying or take the bus 515 or 607 that
goes through Av. Argentina, Av Colon, around Plaza Victoria, Salvador Donoso (Chacabuco)
and then it goes up in av. Ecuador (Bellavista). You need to get down the bus in the Centro
Cultural Ex Carcel (you may ask the driver to drop you there).
How to charge your phone or computer?
It is quite likely that you will need a power adapter for your computer and cell phone. The photo
below will help you to buy a plug adapter (type C or L).
The voltage in Chilean outlets is 220V/50Hz.
Safety Measures:
We strongly recommend travel insurance.
Keep your important documents (IDs) in a safe place; hotels provide safes for
you.
Keep your computer and belongings always with you if you bring them to the Parque
Cultural.
Avoid walking alone late at night and/or with your phone/computer/camera in hand.
Please exchange money in official currency exchange offices and try to carry small
bills and coins (some businesses don't accept large bills such as $20.000 ones)
Always check that the license plate of your uber matches with the one on the app.
Avoid petting and feeding stray dogs.
Even though the water here in Valparaiso is drinkable we recommend you to buy
bottled water.
